ASH BATTLES UFC VET BACZYNSKI FOR MIDDLEWEIGHT BELT AT UNIFIED 34

Jun 6, 2018

EDMONTON — Teddy Ash will battle 11-time UFC vet Seth Baczynski for the vacant Unified MMA Middleweight Championship in the main event of Unified 34 on Sept. 28 at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB, LIVE on UnifiedMMA.tv.

Ash takes the fight after beating Arizona’s Jacob Ortiz for the Unified Light-Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Unified 33 in May. The Fort McMurray product is riding high on a five-fight winning streak and is eager to keep his momentum going against Baczynski, his most dangerous opponent yet.

“This is a great fight for me and a great fight for the fans,” says the 28-year-old Ash. “I’m excited to put on a great show, I’m excited to finish my opponent, and I’m excited to add another belt to my collection.”

Baczynski, meanwhile, is entering the cage for the 35th time as a professional. The dynamic Arizona fighter has 11 trips to the UFC’s Octagon on his resume — including two runs on The Ultimate Fighter — and he’s hoping a victory over Ash will propel him back to the UFC.

“Teddy’s got a game opponent and I’ve got my hands full too. There will definitely be fireworks,” says Baczynski, a two-time Fight-of-the-Night award winner in the UFC who holds notable victories over Matt Brown, Alex Garcia and Neil Magny.

“The most likely outcome for this fight is me getting the finish — that’s what I’m always working towards,” adds Baczynski. “I’m always working for the finish.”

There were smiles all around when River Cree Resort & Casino CEO Vik Mahajan and Unified MMA President Sunny Sareen spoke about Unified’s second night of action in Enoch.

“We are looking forward to another successful event in our premier entertainment center,” Mahajan says.

Added Sareen, “We couldn’t be happier to return to River Cree Resort & Casino for Unified 34. Quite simply this is a world-class venue, and we’re very excited and proud to host our event here. Unified 34 will once again raise the bar for what MMA fans in Canada can expect on fight night.”
