CAMPBELL DRAWS NEW ASSIGNMENT FOR #UNIFIED28 TITLE SCRAP

Sep 17, 2016

EDMONTON — Nick Campbell will now meet Anton Tokarchuk for the vacant #UnifiedMMA Light-Heavyweight Championship at #Unified28 on September 30 in Edmonton.

The change-up comes after Denny Houle was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.

Riding high with back-to-back victories, Campbell was looking forward to handing Houle the first loss of his career. But after he drew a new assignment for his Unified MMA Championship bout, the hard-hitting knockout artist shifted his focus on dispatching Tokarchuk, who brings a 4-1 record into battle.

“I was looking forward to fighting Denny, but this fight was never about fighting Denny, specifically — it’s about taking home the Unified MMA Championship,” says Campbell, whose nine victories have all come via stoppage.

“Now,” he adds, “I’m excited to take out Anton and bring the belt back to Calgary.”

Not so fast, says Tokarchuk, a Ukrainian-born Calgary fighter.

“I’m going to play the stand-up game. He’s pretty good there too, so whatever happens will happen,” says Tokarchuk, who was an undefeated amateur before making his pro debut in 2013.

“If I get an opportunity to submit Nick, I’m going to go for it. But I’d love another knockout. It really doesn’t matter, as long as I finish him and get that belt.”
