SCARCELLO DRAWS TUF VET FOR #UNIFIED29

Aug 24, 2016

EDMONTON — Mike Scarcello is back in action at #Unified29 on December 16 in Edmonton — and the eight-time #UnifiedMMA vet has drawn the toughest assignment of his career.

“The Storm,” as he’s known to MMA fans, will return to the cage versus The Ultimate Fighter alumni Matt DesRoches, who’s coming in from Prince Edward Island.

“This is the toughest fight of my career, but it’s also the biggest opportunity. My opponent has a big name in the Canadian MMA world and he’s dangerous across the board,” says Scarcello, who’s looking for his fifth straight stoppage victory December 16.

“This is going to really test my skills and show me where I’m at on the national and international levels.”

Scarcello says there wasn’t any hesitation to accept the bout — and DesRoches echoed his sentiments.

But DesRoches, as he’s quick to tell you, isn’t coming all the way from the Maritimes to be a mark on another fighter’s resume.

“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity. Fights are hard to come by out east, so I’m definitely coming to Edmonton with my best foot forward,” says DesRoches, a proud owner of five first-round stoppages. “I’d love to make a home for myself at Unified MMA — and the first step is to take out Mike Scarcello, which I’m really excited and prepared to do.”

Not so fast, says Scarcello.

“This is going to be a fight where you see a little bit of everything,” the Edmonton fighter says. “It’s going to be all over the place, but I’m going to have my hand raised, of course.”

Unified MMA 29, going down December 16 in Edmonton, will also feature a Unified MMA Lightweight Championship grudge rematch between titlist Garret Nybakken and Aaron Bosiak, and the returns of former title challenger Matt Spisak, Gurjeet Bilkhu and undefeated prospect Rocky Biggs.

Tickets will go on sale October 14 at www.UnifiedMMA.com.
