WHEELER IN VERSUS SCARCELLO AT #UNIFIED29

Oct 28, 2016

EDMONTON — Mike Scarcello will now fight Lenny Wheeler in lightweight action at #Unified29 on December 16 in Edmonton.

The change-up comes after Matt DesRoches had to withdraw from the bout due to injury.

A winner of five straight, Scarcello is looking for his fifth straight stoppage victory against Wheeler, who’s scored lightning-quick, first-round KO wins in three of his past four fights.

“It really doesn’t matter who I fight, as long as they’re tough — and Lenny definitely is,” says Scarcello, an eight-time #UnifiedMMA vet. “Lenny is going to have a lot of energy and he moves around the cage well. I don’t know how it’s going to go, but I’m going to get the win.”

Despite Scarcello’s confidence in the cage, Wheeler, a former top-ranked featherweight who’s transitioning to life at 155 pounds, was all smiles when signing his bout agreement.

“I’m really excited to finally fight for Unified MMA. Unified is a tried and tested promotion that always puts on fun cards,” says Wheeler, whose most recent win came against Bellator MMA vet Matt Bessette for CES MMA on AXS TV Fights. “Matt and I are going to have a great fight. On any other card this fight is the main event, but this is a stacked line-up.

“I’m pumped and can’t wait for December 16.”

As well as Tanner Boser defending his Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship versus Bellator vet Marcus Sursa, a grudge rematch for the Unified MMA Lightweight Championship between Garret Nybakken and Aaron Bosiak, and a battle between Teddy Ash and Brendan Kornberger for the Unified MMA Middleweight Championship, Unified MMA 29 will also feature battles between Menad Abella and Dustin Greentree, Jordan Bittner and Neil Doty, Phil Engeroff and Blair Turnquist, and Gurjeet Bilkhu and Cory Chambers, on December 16 in Edmonton.
