YAGER READY TO TAKE THE BELT HOME AT #UNIFIED28

Sep 8, 2016

EDMONTON — Joe Yager is coming to Edmonton, but this is no vacation.

The heavy-handed Arizona fighter is coming to Canada to take out the country’s top heavyweight — and strike #UnifiedMMA gold in the process.

“This is the biggest fight of my career — there’s no doubt about it,” says Yager, who meets Tanner Boser for the Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship in the main event of #Unified28 on September 30 in Edmonton.

The Bellator MMA vet brings an 11-4 record into battle — and is ranked the 60th-best heavyweight in the world on FightMatrix.com — but this is his first international fight.

To say that Yager is excited to make his Unified MMA debut in Edmonton is an understatement.

“I can’t wait to be back in Canada and back in the cage,” says Yager, who’s coming off back-to-back wins over former Unified MMA Heavyweight Champion Tony Lopez.

“Tanner is a really tough opponent, of course, and a win is going to help put me in the UFC, where I belong.”

Yager has his sights set on someday winning the UFC’s Heavyweight Championship belt. But before that, the personable big man says, there’s no way he’s leaving Canada without the Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship.

“This win is for my daughter, man — that’s what it’s all about,” Yager says. “I do this for my family, and I know the belt will be a big hit at show-and-tell on Monday when I get back.”
