BOSER, NYBAKKEN EARN TITLE SHOTS WITH BIG WINS AT #UNIFIED26

Mar 7, 2016

EDMONTON — Tanner Boser and Garret Nybakken earned #UnifiedMMA championship bouts with big wins at #Unified26 in Edmonton on the weekend.

With a dominant victory over five-time UFC vet Tim Hague, Boser will fight Tony Lopez for the Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship, while Nybakken will throw down with Aaron Bosiak for the vacant Unified MMA Lightweight Championship following a white-knuckle win over Justin Nanaquawetung.

Both highly anticipated championship fights will go down at #Unified27, May 13 in Edmonton, LIVE via pay-per-view on GoFightLive.com.

There were smiles all around when Boser and Nybakken spoke about their big wins — and their upcoming title matches in May.

“If the UFC calls, I’m ready to go,” says Boser, now 8-1, “but I’m excited to fight Tony in May. Fans are going to love it, because it’s going to get ugly and bloody. We’re going to beat the (expletive) out of each other for a while. He’s got so much experience, so I’m not going to count him out, but it’ll be great to get my belt back. I’m a champion already; I just have to beat up Tony Lopez and get my belt back, officially.”

Added Nybakken, hot on the heels of his ninth career win, “I’m super excited. I have a few bruises, but I’m ready to fight right now. Aaron always shows up to fight on Fight Night, but there’s not a chance in hell I’m fighting Aaron without getting my belt. Not a chance in hell.”

Lopez and Bosiak, meanwhile, are chomping at the bit to deliver more memorable fights in the Unified MMA cage.

“This is my first time defending my belt in Canada, and I don’t plan on disappointing myself or my fans; I plan on disappointing everyone in Canada,” laughs Lopez, who will be gunning for his 36th stoppage win against Boser. “That belt isn’t staying in Canada.”

Continued Bosiak, who will be looking to increase his unbeaten record to 4-0 with another first-round finish against Nybakken, “I’m going to finish him. That’s what I’m in there to do. I don’t know if I’ll submit him or finish him with my hands, but I will finish him. I guarantee we’re going to be covered in blood and swinging for the fences, but there’s no way that’s belt not coming home with me. I’ve worked way too hard to get here. Expect a crazy good fight. It’s going to be one of the best fights that Unified has put on to date, I guarantee you that.”
