FIRST TWO FIGHTS ANNOUNCED FOR UNIFIED 35 IN CALGARY

Aug 15, 2018

Two big bantamweight fights have been added to Unified 35 on Nov. 16 at Genesis Centre in Calgary.

Calgary’s Justin Basra will meet Adam MacDougall of Nova Scotia in a battle of two of Canada’s top 135-pound prospects.

Basra makes his Unified MMA debut after earning stoppage victories in each of his first four pro fights. MacDougall, meanwhile, is riding high with three straight first-round finishes.

Noah Ali, also of Calgary, takes on top Saskatchewan fighter Denys Zelenskiy.

Since his 2010 pro debut, Ali has established himself as one of Western Canada’s top 135-pound contenders. Zelenskiy, meanwhile, has shot out of the gate as a pro, earning a 5-1 mark since 2013. All of his victories have come via stoppage before the third round, with his two most recent wins coming in a combined total of 30 seconds.

“The UFC’s recent show in Calgary has fight fans in the city more excited than ever for MMA action. That’s great, because both of these fights feature two of the city’s most exciting athletes and both bouts guarantee fireworks,” Unified Vice President of Operations Ed Kapp says. “Some of the best fighters in the country call Calgary home, and we’re very excited to give them an opportunity to compete and put on a show at home.”

Tickets go on sale Aug. 24.
