Getting to Know Nick “The Savage” Hrabec before Friday’s Unified 34

Sep 23, 2018

Nick “The Savage” Hrabec will enter the Unified MMA cage for the eighth time against Jevon Marshall at Unified 34 on Friday at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB. Before that, the scrappy lightweight contender checked in with UnifiedMMA.ca.

If someone told you when you were growing up that you’d someday be fighting for a living, would you have believed them?

(Laughs) Yes, I was always a very rowdy kid growing up, so I would believe it.

How did you find MMA to begin with?

I’ve always been a fan of it growing up, in junior high and high school, but what got me hooked was Anderson Silva’s first fight in the UFC against Chris Leben, and ever since that fight I wanted to pursue it.

What do you love about MMA?

The consistent growth of it, always learning and, more than anything, fighting just sets my soul on fire.

What do you dislike about MMA?

For sure losing is the worst feeling in the world.

What are you up to when not training?

Well, I’m always training no matter what, fight or no fight, but when I don’t have a fight coming up I like watch football, hockey, playing golf and hanging out with my best friends.

Go-to Netflix show?

Anytime I watch Netflix I put a funny movie on and within 20 minutes I fall asleep (laughs).

Favorite movie?

SuperFly.

Ideal vacation spot?

Somewhere that’s hot and has a beach.

Where would you like to be in one year?

Signed to a bigger promotion like UFC, Bellator or PFL.

What are your goals in MMA?

To be a world champion and one of the greatest Canadian MMA fighters to ever live.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank while you have this opportunity?

All my coaches and training partners. Without them I wouldn’t be the fighter I am today.

Unified 34 is SOLD OUT, but you can still watch Nick’s fight — and the rest of the action, including two title fights — LIVE via pay-per-view.
