EDMONTON — “Slick” Nick LeBlanc is ready to end his year with a bang.
On Friday, he looks to up his record to 6-1 with a second straight stoppage victory at the expense of Leo Bonin in their Unified 65 featherweight matchup at the iconic River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton.
“It’s great to have this fight before the holidays because I can take care of business, and then focus on spending time with family and enjoying the holidays,” he says.
“I’m really looking forward to time with my family.”
The 27-year-old, 145-pound contender LeBlanc will have a lot of supporters from his hometown of Calgary at River Cree on Friday night. It’s always a must-see moment when LeBlanc steps into the cage, and he expects that trend to continue at Unified 65.
“I’ve never had to go out of my way to make an exciting fight; that’s just how I’ve always fought naturally. I want people to want to watch me fight — I know that that matters a lot in MMA — but it’s never something I’ve had to worry about,” LeBlanc offers.
“I think this is going to be a brawl. I think this is going to be a really good fight.”
LeBlanc isn’t looking past the hard-hitting Bonin, but he has big plans for 2026.
“I want to get on the Unified 67 card in Calgary on Feb. 28. I want to have a quick turnaround and put on a show in my city. I’d like to fight for Unified throughout Canada, especially in Toronto where I have family, and just keep the ball rolling,” he says.
“I could see myself in the UFC in 2026,” he adds. “I just want to keep putting on good performances until I get that call.”
