BOSER, WALSH HEADLINE #UNIFIED30 ON MARCH 17

Jan 4, 2017

EDMONTON — Tanner Boser will finally defend his Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship versus UFC vet Pat Walsh when the two big men collide in the main event of #Unified30 on March 17 in Edmonton.

The two heavyweights were set to meet in the main event of Unified MMA 29 in December, but Walsh had to withdraw from the fight due to a dislocated toe that left him unable to walk without pain, much less fight.

That was the first time Walsh had to pull himself from a bout, and it still doesn’t sit well with the former wrestler at The Ohio State University, who’s riding high with four straight impressive wins.

“A toe injury sounds so miniscule, but I just couldn’t take the fight. Tanner is a high-level athlete, and it would’ve been ridiculously stupid,” Walsh says. “All that being said, I couldn’t be more excited about the fight. I really want to bring that belt home to the States, but it’s a pride thing too. I jumped at the opportunity to fight Tanner, twice, and I can’t wait for March 17.”

Boser, meanwhile, is equally excited.

A victory would be the Edmonton product’s fourth straight in the Unified MMA cage and would improve his record to 13-2. He’s also looking forward to showing Walsh he should’ve never accepted this fight in the first place.

“Pat is a tough UFC and Ultimate Fighter vet who boasts an impressive 9-2 record. Pat has shown in the past that, as long as his toe isn’t injured, he’s a dangerous fighter and will be a tough challenge,” Boser says with a big smile. “Me and my team will be holding daily prayer vigils to help keep his toe from getting injured again this time. All additional prayers are appreciated.”

Unified MMA 30, which goes down March 17 in Edmonton, will also feature Garret Nybakken and Nick Campbell as they defend their titles versus to-be-determined opponents, and the return of Mike Scarcello, Pat Pytlik, Teddy Ash, Cam Dyck, and Coralie Dixon.

Tickets go on sale January 20.
