TORONTO – The biggest flyweight bout in Canadian MMA history goes down at Unified 55 on Jan. 19 in Toronto as Tony Laramie takes on Louis “Mad Prince” Jourdain for the vacant inaugural Unified MMA Canadian Flyweight Championship, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass from Rebel Entertainment Complex.

This is a hugely anticipated rematch featuring the two best flyweight prospects in Canada. Jourdain and Laramie first met in 2017 in a fight for the ages, with Jourdain taking home the victory via decision after three back-and-forth rounds.

Laramie has only lost once since his defeat to Jourdain. The Windsor, ON product brings a seven-fight winning streak into the rematch. Following back-to-back, first-round stoppages earlier this year, Laramie’s record is 8-2, with five of those wins coming by KO.

Jourdain is 7-3 on the strength of three straight victories. The Montreal fighter’s body of work includes three knockouts and one win by submission. 

This is one of two Unified MMA Canadian Championships on the line at Unified 55 in Toronto on Jan. 19, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

John “The Dragon” Nguyen will defend his Unified MMA Canadian Featherweight Championship for the first time against Contender Series vet Mateo “Carrapato” Vogel.

Nguyen is 6-3 on the strength of back-to-back stoppage victories. The Calgary product defeated Maged Hammo via first-round KO to win the belt in the Main Event of Unified 52 in September. All but one of his wins have come by stoppage (four KOs, one submission).

Vogel is making his Unified MMA debut after his most recent fight was in front of UFC President Dana White in Las Vegas. The Ottawa fighter’s 8-3 record is comprised of five submissions and a KO. He holds victories over current UFC fighters Garrett Armfield and Serhiy Sidey.

Unified 55 features a full slate of other can’t-miss fights, including Pat Pytlik (8-1) versus Ryan Leininger (10-4) in welterweight action in the Main Event, a long-awaited featherweight grudge match between Teshay Gouthro (7-2) and Michael Imperato (11-6), a highly anticipated lightweight showdown between Angel Mercado (6-1) and Matt Speciale (5-1), and much, much more.
