Five Biggest Storylines For Unified 40

Aug 13, 2021

EDMONTON There’s no shortage of intrigue heading into Unified 40 on Saturday at the sold-out River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton, AB, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass. To help whet your appetite for the first Unified MMA fight night in over 18 months, we mapped out some of the card’s biggest storylines.

Unified MMA’s Debut On UFC Fight Pass

Unified MMA makes our highly anticipated debut on UFC Fight Pass, the biggest streaming service in combat sports. We’re thrilled to provide such a large platform for our athletes and corporate partners, and our fighters are ready to show the world that the Unified MMA cage is one of the most challenging stages in the fight game.

Main Event Title Fight

Graham Park defends his Unified MMA Light-Heavyweight Championship for the first time against top challenger Neil Berry in the Main Event. A City of Edmonton firefighter by day, Graham has been a force to be reckoned with as a professional fighter, boasting a 7-2 record on the strength of four straight first-round victories. Berry is his stiffest challenge yet, however, as the former Unified title challenger is gunning for his 10th victory as a pro.

Co-Main Event Title Fight

Neal Anderson and Maged Hammo throw down for the vacant Unified MMA Featherweight Championship in the Co-Main Event. Anderson is a winner of six straight, but Hammo is his toughest challenge yet. Anderson, 34, is in a do-or-die position with this fight, as he’s stated a loss would have him contemplating retirement. The fast-rising Hammo, meanwhile, is hungry to earn his 10th victory and continue to establish himself as one of Canada’s best.

“The Bengal” Is Back

Former Unified champion KB “The Bengal” Bhullar makes his highly anticipated return to River Cree when he battles Anton Tokarchuk. Bhullar signed with the UFC when he was 8-0 and, after back-to-back losses in the Octagon, he’s hungry to earn another chance on the global stage with a statement win at Unified 40. Standing in front of him is former Unified title challenger Tokarchuk, who’s unfazed by his opponent’s resume and is ready to spoil Bhullar’s hotly anticipated homecoming.

Top Prospects On Deck

Fans are super excited to see long-time Unified MMA pillars like Neal Anderson, KB Bhullar, Graham Park and Nick Hrabec, among others, back in action. But some of Western Canada’s brightest young prospects, like Andrew Mavridis, Tyler Vankill, Tyrell Giselbrecht, Jericho MacPhee, to name a just a few, are hungry to steal the show on UFC Fight Pass before the more established fan-favourites hit the stage.
