Jett Grande returns to Canada’s Ultimate Proving Ground after big win in Pakistan

Sep 16, 2022

EDMONTON – Jett Grande is having the summer of a lifetime.

In August, he traveled to Pakistan to put his unbeaten record on the line against one of the Middle East’s top prospects, Afghanistan’s Nasratullah Sharifi (2-0).

As usual, the jet-setting Grande won, upping his record to 4-0-1.

“That was a great experience,” Grande said. “It was really cool to experience a new country, and represent Canada overseas. The promotion was great, and I had a really good fight.”

Not one to rest too long, Grande is back in action again on Sept. 23, hunting for his fifth professional victory against fellow undefeated Ontario prospect Alex O’Neil (4-0) at Unified 46 at the SOLD-OUT River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

Grande says his fight in Pakistan was a perfect warmup for his return to Canada’s Ultimate Proving Ground. Grande has shared the cage with a number of tough opponents so far in his career, but he’s preparing for his toughest challenge in O’Neil, who’s also regarded as one of Canada’s most promising fighters.

“I’m going into this fight believing that Alex is my toughest opponent yet, and this is going to be the toughest fight of my career – that’s how I’m approaching it and that’s how I’m preparing for it,” Grande said. “I’ve got a lot of respect for anyone who steps in the cage with me, so my mentality is to always be at my best.”

Grande hopes a call to compete in the UFC or on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series will come after he defeats O’Neil. That’s the goal, he says, but he’s going to keep pushing forward regardless of which opportunities arise.

Where would he like to be a year from today?

“Either signed with the UFC or fighting for a Unified belt,” Grande said. “Either option would be great.”
