KB Bhullar: “A Real Fighter Should Be As Active As Possible”

Dec 17, 2021

EDMONTON — KB Bhullar likes to stay busy.

So when his first opponent for Unified 42 (Strahinja Gavrilovic) dropped out due to injury, the dynamic Edmonton fighter wasn’t about to sit on the sidelines during a fight night at River Cree Resort & Casino.

Bhullar now faces a fellow former Unified MMA champion in Brandt Dewsbery, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

Dewsbery is riding an impressive five-fight winning streak and is 15-3-1 overall, but he hasn’t competed in over six years. That, Bhullar believes, will make a difference on fight night.

“It’s a lot different being in a fight environment than it is in training. You can try to replicate it as much as you can, but in the end it’s just different,” says Bhullar, who’s racked up eight fights since Dewsbery’s most recent outing. “This is my fifth fight in just a little over a year, so that goes to show my activity versus his. That’s that, man. You can take that for what it is.”

“A real fighter should be as active as possible,” he adds. “This is your job. If you’re physically able to fight, and this is what you really want to do, you shouldn’t be taking years off in between your fights. It messes with your timing and your fighting acumen is lessened because you’re not working on those skills and facing that pressure consistently.”

What does Bhullar have in mind for the next year?

“Put me down for another five fights,” he offers. “I’m just trying to maximize my potential and just keep getting better.”
