Lean & Mean Graham Park Ready To Rumble In Unified 42 Headliner

Nov 26, 2021

EDMONTON — Unlike most people, Graham Park is going to lose 10 pounds this holiday season.

Already regarded as the best 205-pound contender in Canada, Park will shed a few pounds to fight Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz for the inaugural Unified MMA 195-pound championship in the Main Event of Unified 42 on Dec. 17 at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

“I think fighting at 195 is going to result in an even better performance than usual,” says Park, who holds the Unified MMA Light-Heavyweight Championship and is 8-2 on the strength of five straight, first-round finishes.

“I fight at 205 largely because my teammate KB Bhullar has been Unified’s middleweight champ, and I believe my skills and ability allow me to transcend the two weight classes. But I think 195 is my ideal weight to fight at, to be honest. It’s too bad that there aren’t a lot of other organizations that recognize the super-middleweight division, because this is about as good as it’s going to get for me.”

Standing across from Park is Ksiazkiewicz. The Winnipeg-based Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has long been regarded as one of Canada’s best middleweight contenders, amassing an 8-1 record, with his lone loss coming via a close decision on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in Las Vegas.

There’s a good chance that the winner of Unified 42’s Main Event will get a call-up to the UFC’s Octagon, but Park isn’t looking past Ksiazkiewicz.

“I’ve accepted the fact that I don’t make those decisions. When the time comes, I’ll be ready, because that’s all I can control,” Park says. “That being said, none of that matters if I don’t win. If I don’t win, everything is stalled, so I’m just focusing on the task at hand.

“I’m just focusing on what’s important, because I think this is my toughest opponent to date. All the true MMA fans in Canada were really excited when they saw this matchup. This is one of the best fights to happen in Canada for a while, and people are very excited.”
