LOPEZ STRIKES GOLD IN #UNIFIEDMMA DEBUT

EDMONTON — Tony Lopez had a bad dream.
While in Edmonton preparing for his #UnifiedMMA Heavyweight Championship fight with Tim Hague on Friday evening, the California killer dreamed he lost his fight and was forced to leave Canada without his new championship belt in tow.
Thankfully for the dynamic big man, it was just a dream and on Friday evening he was able to score a third-round stoppage over Hague, a five-time UFC veteran, allowing him to leave Canada with his hard-earned championship belt.
Lopez, who has nearly three-dozen stoppage victories on his resume, has one of the biggest belt collections in MMA. But the Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship belt, he says with a smile in his hotel room, is special.
“This belt means a lot,” the affable heavyweight slugger says, smiling. “This is my first time fighting for the organization. I beat a good guy for it. And I’m going to get an opportunity to defend it next year, which makes me feel really good and excited for next year.”
