Nick Hrabec’s eyes are on the prize before Unified 40 showdown

EDMONTON — Nick “The Savage” Hrabec lived up to his nickname this winter in Thailand.

Hrabec initially went to Asia to sharpen his kickboxing skills under the Absolute Thailand MMA banner. When the hard-hitting Edmonton fighter was offered a kickboxing fight on four days notice, he happily accepted.

Hrabec scored a second-round KO victory in his kickboxing debut. He also predicts a second-round stoppage in his return to action at Unified 40, when he fights Kolton Menzak in the super-lightweight division, on March 14 at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB.

“My time in Thailand will definitely help me out in my fight,” says Hrabec, who’s gunning for his seventh win under the Unified MMA banner. “My stand-up has improved a lot since fans last saw me. But it’s an MMA fight, so wherever the fight goes, I’m going to be comfortable.”

Hrabec says a win at Unified 40 could propel him to a breakout 2020.

“A few more fights will put me in the picture as being one of the top lightweights in Canada,” he says. “It’s crucial that I don’t take any losses and keep my eyes on the prize. One year from today I’d love to be a champion with Unified MMA.”
