Sean Michael predicts submission win over Ramil Kamilov at Unified 47

Nov 14, 2022

CALGARY – The paycheque is nice, but Sean Michael fights simply because he loves to fight.

A married family man with two young boys at home, Michael is a foreman in the construction industry during the day. He balances his passion for combat by training every morning at 5 o’clock, before making it to work by 8. He’ll put in a full day at the jobsite before dinner and family time at home. After his children are asleep, Michael finds time for another training session.

“I grew up poor and never really had an outlet for my energy, and I was never really a part of a team. I think fighting is my way of showing myself – not just to the world, but to myself,” Michael says.

Michael’s next opportunity to express himself will come at Unified 47 on Dec. 2 at the Genesis Centre in his native Calgary, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass. He’ll try to climb to 4-0 as a pro against Ramil Kamilov, who also brings a spotless 3-0 record into the cage.

This one is personal, Michael says.

“I wasn’t even planning on fighting in December, but he started talking (expletive) on the internet,” he says with a laugh. “He was posting pictures of me, saying that I was afraid to fight him. But I’m not afraid of anybody, so let’s go. He’s been talking this whole time, and I’m just sitting back.”

Michael says there are two reasons why his opponent might be talking smack.

“He’s either stupid or scared, in my opinion,” he says, laughing. “Maybe he’s trying to get into my head to undermine my training, but he has no idea how hard I’m training.”

Michael’s prediction for fight night in Calgary is simple.

“I’m going to submit him. No doubt about it.”
