Surging Jett Grande Ends 2021 on a High Note at Unified 42

Dec 29, 2021

EDMONTON – Jett Grande capped off 2021 on a high note at Unified 42.

On Dec. 17, the fast-rising Red Deer, AB fighter improved to 2-0-1 with a blistering, 92-second knockout over Steven Thomas at River Cree Resort & Casino on UFC Fight Pass.

Grande’s finish is good for the second fastest KO in the Unified MMA cage all year, and the third fastest overall finish of the season.

“(Unified 42) couldn’t have gone better for me,” Grande, 23, says. “I scored a knockout over a very skilled and formidable opponent in Steven Thomas, so everything went perfect for me.

“Unified is a great promotion to fight for. I couldn’t ask for a better promotion to fight for. It was a really good experience.”

Grande was a former World Champion as an amateur combatant, but only one of his 15 pre-professional bouts ended by knockout. Both of Grande’s wins in the Unified MMA cage have come by KO, so it’s safe to say he’s making up for lost time.

“I think that’s the ideal way to win a fight – in and out, you know? I guess there’s something to be said about out-skilling and manhandling your opponent for two or three rounds, but the first-round knockout is always the best,” Grande says.

“It doesn’t get much better than that.”
