The Top 5 Unified 43 storylines

Mar 4, 2022

EDMONTON – Unified MMA kicks off its 2022 schedule with Unified 43 on March 4 at the SOLD-OUT River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

As always, the event has no shortage of intrigue. Here are the five biggest storylines heading into Unified’s first event of the season.

UFC Vets Clash In The Main Event

UFC vets Shane “Shaolin” Campbell (19-8) and Kyle “Killshot” Prepolec (15-7) square off at 160 pounds in the highly anticipated final bout of the evening. Both hard-hitting Canadians are eager to add another impressive victory to their resume and, hopefully, stamp their ticket back to the biggest show. This is an extremely high-level fight that could easily be contested in the famed UFC’s Octagon, but we’re fortunate enough to have it headline Unified 43. Don’t blink.

“The Bengal” Battles “The Werewolf” In The Co-Main Event

UFC vet KB “The Bengal” Bhullar (10-3) welcomes Quebec’s Strahinja “The Werewolf” Gavrilovic (8-5) to the Unified MMA cage as they clash in the super-middleweight division. Bhullar, a former champion with Unified, is trying to climb to 7-0 under the bright lights at River Cree Resort & Casino, while Gavrilovic is eager to build on his most recent fight – a 49-second KO victory. Both men have taken a few pre-fight shots at each other, so there will certainly be no love lost in this West-versus-East, Co-Main Event matchup.

A Canadian Icon Returns To The Cage

Few fighters in the history of Canadian combat sports have accomplished as much as Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford. After six years of competing in high-level boxing matches around the world, Ford makes his long-awaited, hugely anticipated return to MMA as he tries to climb to 23-5 at the expense of American challenger Dawond Pickney (18-15) in their super-welterweight matchup. Ford is one of the biggest stars in Canadian MMA, but Pickney is hungry to bring his third straight win back home to Arkansas.

Top 10 Canadian Featherweights Lock Horns

Former title challenger Neal Anderson (10-4) welcomes Lucas “Wild Thing” Neufeld (6-1) to the Unified MMA cage as they clash at 145 pounds. Two of the most dangerous featherweights in Canada are ready to do battle in this Main Event-worthy matchup.

Prospects Galore

A glimpse into the future of Unified MMA is on display at Unified 43, as several fast-rising young guns are ready to make a statement on the biggest platform in Canadian MMA. While the above-mentioned fighters have firmly established themselves as contenders on the national stage, Unified 43 features a number of super-hungry young fighters like Cole “Rambo” Campbell (4-3), Zack “Pow Pow” Powell (4-1), Lorenzo Celis (1-1), Mac Laursen (0-1),  Ali Charkie (1-1) and Sandeep Sran, who makes his hotly anticipated professional debut in the opening fight of the UFC Fight Pass broadcast.
