Fighting about more than wins and losses for Unified 49’s Shannon Clark

Dec 12, 2022

EDMONTON – Fighting is about more than wins and losses for the unbeaten Shannon Clark.

“My mindset has always been the same. It’s not necessarily about winning and losing – I just need to make sure that I’m better than I was in my last fight,” says Clark, a former soccer player at the University of Lethbridge.

“I have my goals for each fight, and it’s important that I meet them. Win or lose, if I don’t match what I want to do, I don’t think that’s a success. There was one fight where I didn’t perform to the best of my ability and, even though I won, I still felt like I lost.”

Clark returns to action Saturday at Unified 49 at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, AB. She tries to improve to 2-0 against Jo Maisonneuve, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.

Clark expects a hard-fought battle from the well-rounded Maisonneuve. She’s hoping to cap off 2022 with another victory that will lead into more growth and success in the new year.

“More wins under my belt would be awesome,” she says with a laugh when asked where she’d like to be in 12 months. “But I’d just like to continue developing my skills as a well-rounded fighter. I’d like to compete more so I can learn more. By this time next year, I’d like some more wins – that would be ideal – but my goal is just to be better fighter than I am now.”
